Youth Services Programs that serve Allegany County

Name of Organization: AYEPS (Allegany Youth Enrichment Program Services, Inc.)
Services Offered (basic): Planned programming will include arts/crafts. physical fitness, informal mentoring, soft skills classes, tutoring/homework assistance and volunteer opportunities.  Future plans include afterschool meals program and more formal art classes.  
Ages of children served: Middle and high school aged children (11-17); children without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, genetic information, gender identity, gender expression, religion, or disability. The plan with paid staffing will include working with at-risk youth who have been identified by local law enforcement, the public school system or the department of juvenile services, however in the interest of safety for the center, identified juvenile diversion cases will be for non-violent misdemeanor offenses such as simple assault, vandalism, disorderly conduct, running away, petty theft, curfew violations, and loitering.  The identified juvenile diversion cases will also require the juvenile to attend counseling or be connected with services as a necessary condition before they can enter the Program.   These stipulations will be worked out with community partners prior to enrollment once the center opens.

Name of Organization: Boys & Girls Club
Services Offered (basic): “Our Mission” is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. We do this through providing safe space after school for hanging out, programming and fun.

Services Offered (basic): The Allegany Arts Council provides an ongoing programming calendar of art enrichment and engagement programs for youth in our community. Some examples of our work include Art on Demand, a free, online art program with monthly activities that coordinate with our gallery exhibitions. We also have ArtLab, a mobile arts studio which can travel in the community offering art-based programs and activities customized to our users’ needs. We also actively work within the public school system and seek partnerships with other community-based organizations.
